News from the College & Career Center
The CCC strives for continuity in providing relevant information and resources to our students and community.

Updates and Reminders:

Virtual College Fairs

All dates/times are also listed on the College and Career Center Events Calendar.

This spring, three non-profit organizations are hosting free virtual college fairs with hundreds of participating institutions of higher learning.

Students (and parents) can hear directly from colleges & universities and ask questions at these events. Students select which sessions to attend. Admissions professionals also offer general knowledge sessions on Navigating the UC & CSU Applications, Writing College Essays, Paying for College, and many more!

These virtual fairs are a fantastic opportunity for students to plan for their future, research, and learn more about available options.

Community College Visits

Representatives from Mission College will visit LAHS on Wednesday, February 24 (C-Day) at Noon. Visit Link.

Foothill College will host a two-part virtual series to  ensure our seniors have a smooth transition to Foothill College.
DeAnza College will host a two-part virtual series to ensure our seniors have a smooth transition to DeAnza College.

Individual College Advising Meetings
Ms. Price sent out a SignUpGenius link via email to all 11th-grade students. Please ask your student if they have signed up for a 30-minute appointment. If they have not, please ask them to retrieve the email and sign up on the spot. We appreciate your support!

Ms. Price asks students to complete a form with personal information that she will use during the 1:1 college advising meeting. Details are in the student's email.

College Admissions Testing
Over a thousand colleges and universities have extended test-optional admissions policies for the Class of 2022. You can review a list of schools here or check individual school websites for the most up-to-date information.

Work, Volunteering, Internships, and Summer Programs

  • Volunteering options such as the LAHS Volunteer Society
  • A sampling of summer programs listed at the bottom of the page. Please encourage your student to research options now to avoid missing a deadline.
Los Altos Youth Commission

Is your student a resident of the City of Los Altos and interested in serving on a Youth Commission which advises the City Council on matters relating to teen and youth issues? If so, they can complete the application here: Commission and Committee Application | City of Los Altos California. Applications are due April 14, 2021. Four seats are opening this summer.

Interested individuals are encouraged to attend a meeting of the Commission before applying. Youth Commission website.
